South Mississippi Employability Fair

This afternoon at the Lyman Community Center, employers from across the Coast met with a large group of men and women who are ready to get to work.
The Employability Job Fair is part of the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services’ ongoing effort to find work for disabled Mississippians.
Members of the seafood, gaming, and shipbuilding industries were on hand, alongside a wide variety of other potential employers.
After seeing success throughout the state, organizers are looking to turn this into an annual process to diversify Mississippi’s workforce. Mississippi Department of Rehab Services Executive Director Chris Howard said, “It’s our third one this year. We did our first one in Jackson. We were up in Southaven last month and then here in Gulfport. At the Department of Rehab Services our goals are to help people with disabilities find great paying jobs. Through these job fairs we can get individuals with disabilities face to face with these employers and really try to create some great job opportunities.”
The event is co-sponsored by the office of Governor Phil Bryant.
