Short term rental workshop in Biloxi

The City of Biloxi will host a short term rental workshop at City Hall on Tuesday that is open to the public.

The Biloxi Planning Commission conducted a public hearing to consider some changes to the current short term rental ordinance.

Since the hearing, the planning commission came up with some recommendations to monitor short term rentals. The possible changes will be discussed at the workshop.

The planning commission believes the recommendations are logical especially since the applications for short term rentals continue to increase. Biloxi Director of Community Development Jerry Creel said, “We have gotten over 250 applications in the office from people who have short term rental operations that are trying to get grandfathered in. If they get grandfathered in, next year all they have to do is come back in and get their license renewed. They won’t have to go through the conditional use process.”

The workshop starts at 10 a.m. No official changes to the short term rental ordinance will take place until the Biloxi City Council meeting later in the day.
