Search Continues for Passengers of the Missing Plane

The search continues for three passengers of a plane that went missing in Jackson County Monday night.Pieces of the small engine plane washed up on the shores of Belle Fontaine Beach in Ocean Springs this morning.
“Absolutely shocked. Very unfortunate.” That was Tammy Herring’s initial reaction when she first heard about the debris from a missing plane that washed up on Belle Fontaine Beach, located just around the corner from her home in Ocean Springs. “I was at work and I just got home just a little bit ago. I’ve been following it all day on the news and I didn’t realize it was so close to the house until I got home this afternoon,” said Herring.
A citizen in the area was the one who first notified authorities about the debris, a piece reported to be part of the tail wing of the missing plane. Chief of Marine Patrol with the Department of Marine Resources Keith Davis said, “The tail wing is significant and we don’t want to get too involved in what has been located at this point but yes, we have found various significant pieces of what we believe to be a part of that flight.”
Multiple agencies continue to search for the three missing passengers, Saucier businessman Dexter Brewer, Gerald Miletello of Monroe, Louisiana and an unidentified pilot.
“I hope that they do find the, hopefully, survivors alive. Everyone’s got family and we’re praying for them,” said Herring.
Authorities are asking anyone who finds anything that could be debris from the plane to leave it where it is, don’t touch it and call the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department at 228-769-3063.
