Saucier Elementary School celebrates Teacher Appreciation Week

Teachers are feeling the love this week as they are being thanked for their hard work and efforts in the classroom.

The first full week of May marks ‘Teacher Appreciation Week’ and Saucier Elementary is showing why their teachers are the best.

Since Monday, educators at Saucier have been catered to with a breakfast bar, taco bar, and today’s treat was a soup and salad bar. Throughout the week, teachers have had their names drawn for prizes and other gifts.

Principal Alyson Grissom says it is important for her to show how much she cares for her teachers. “I don’t think people really understand how stressful it is to be a teacher. It is, there’s a lot of demand placed on them. They’ve got a lot of kids in their care all day and it’s a high stress job. The risk of burnout is really good. It’s a high risk for that. We just try to encourage our teachers and make sure that they know we appreciate them this week and every week.”

Tomorrow, Saucier Elementary teachers are being treated to an ice cream and snack bar and on Friday a donut bar.
