Rescuers help koalas recover from wildfires

Caretakers at the koala hospital in Port Macquarie, Australia continue to have busy days.

Recent bushfires wiped out nearly two-thirds of the koalas in a nearby nature reserve.

The fires reignited on Thursday threatening the rest of the koalas.

Some of the koalas coming into the animal hospital have singed fur and burn marks.

Officials say it may take at least 10 days to know the full extent of the damage the fires have had on the marsupial population.

Until then, workers at the hospital continue to treat the burn victims feeding them formula and eucalyptus leaves.
