‘Project Lead the Way’ grants awarded to local schools

This morning, Chevron awarded $92,000 in grants to schools in George and Jackson counties all in the name of the ‘Project Lead the Way.’

‘Project Lead the Way’ is a nonprofit organization that provides transformative science, technology, engineering, and mathematics learning experiences for students and teachers.

Chevron has invested nearly one million dollars to support ‘PLTW’ in the Mississippi region.

Pascagoula High School senior Jase Blythe is just one of the over 20,000 South Mississippi students who have benefited from the opportunity. “I am going to Mississippi State and going into electrical engineering, but it could carry me that way. I really love the engineering aspect. When I first got into that class I didn’t know anything about engineering and it really taught me a lot and really changed what I wanted to be when I get older.”

These funds will also help with professional development, project resources, and supplies.
