Primary Preperations for Harrison County

Tomorrow is a big day for Mississippi. Voters across the state head to the polls for the presidential primary.
That means today is a busy day for our county election commissions. The Harrison County Election Commission spent the day handing off ballots and supply bins to poll managers. Equipment was distributed to the precincts for set up. They also set up a voting machine for accuracy testing.
Officials expect the idea of a brand new president will draw larger crowds to the polls than usual. Harrison County Election Commission Chairman Becky Payne said, “Mississippi has made national news with this election. I think that what we’re doing is very important. Our electoral votes are very important for both the Republican and Democratic races.”
Chair for the Harrison County Democratic Elections committee Renick Taylor said, “I believe we’re going to have a record turnout, I really do. This election has been breaking records everywhere it goes and I don’t think Mississippi will be any different.”
Officials want to remind everyone that two Harrison County polling places have changed for this election. To make sure you’re headed to the right place, you can visit the voter precinct locator on the county website at
