Popp’s Ferry students celebrate World Autism Day
You might have noticed more people wearing blue today. Well, there is a reason for that. All of the blue is in honor of World Autism Awareness Day.
Students at Popp’s Ferry Elementary School were asked to ‘light it up blue’ in honor of World Autism Awareness Day and wear as much blue as possible.
Popp’s Ferry also has a self-contained autism classroom and each one of the students in that class painted a puzzle piece to hand out to staff at the school. Special Ed Teacher Angela Pounders said, “These kids are awesome. They are awesome in their own ways and it is just learning what their strengths are and capitalizing on that because they are very bright.”
This was the first year the school hosted this school wide event.
