Bay St. Louis PD welcomes first-ever crisis negotiation team

BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (WXXV)- The Bay St. Louis Police Department is introducing a new crisis negotiation team.

This is the first-ever crisis team for the department.

Becoming a member of the team requires extensive training. Each member needs to complete basic crisis negotiation certification, intervention team certification, and peer support certification.

Team members also participate in advanced training opportunities throughout the year and conduct in-house training monthly.

The department also says this is an important milestone as it reflects continued commitment to providing the highest level of service and safety to the community.
