Police have located “armed and dangerous” person in connection to Gulfport shooting

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV) — Gulfport Police have located the person believed to be responsible for a shooting last week.

On Thursday, May 13, 2021, officers with the Gulfport Police Department responded to an area hospital after receiving a call about a shooting.

At the hospital, officers spoke with the victim who was being treated for injuries and learned the victim got into a physical altercation with the suspect. The fight escalated and the suspect shot into the victim’s vehicle.

Detectives have identified the suspect as 29-year-old Michelle Shantel Pope.

Pope is described as a 29-year-old Black female with black hair. She is approximately 5 feet, 5 inches tall, and weighs about 180 pounds.

Pope is being charged with four counts of Aggravated Assault and her bond is set at $500,000.00.
