Pearl River County Storm Damage

Pearl River County fortunately avoided any fatalities from last night’s storm, but tornadoes that touched down in the county destroyed homes and trees in its path. Fire crews in the county believe three tornadoes touched down throughout the county in several areas.

Residents in Henleyfield, Derby and Amacker town communities experienced the most damage. Downed trees, trees on top of houses and cars, as well as torn off roofs from the strong winds are just a few examples of what these residents are now facing after last night’s tornadoes. Pearl River County resident, Bradley Duncan, says it’s a night he will never forget. “My phone went off and said tornado warning, get to shelter now. I ran right next door to my grandparents to tell them to get down and by the time I walked through the door it hit.  The tornado picked up and went across the road, dropped down right behind our house and it made a wreck of everything.

Pearl River emergency officials encourage any residents who have sustained damage and haven’t had their house surveyed to call 9-1-1.
