Pathway Resource Center offering free services in D’Iberville

Opening their door for the first time in 2021, Pathway Resource Center in D’Iberville is ready to help connect the community to free services available to everyone.

Checking in on thy neighbor includes the homeless community. In D’Iberville at Big Ridge Baptist Church, Pathway Resource Center opens their doors as a safe place to share physical and mental health assistance.

Melody Worsham, a certified peer specialist for the Mental Health Association of South Mississippi, tells News 25 how their partnership with Big Ridge Baptist Church benefits the community. “For Big Ridge Baptist Church to open their doors in a nice central location and allow us to come in and partner with them to provide some resource and referrals, help people navigate the system.”

The center offers help for new IDs, birth certificates, apartment applications, mental health awareness and much more. “We are trying to help people holistically. People have spiritual and emotional needs at this time, not just material needs.”

Word about Pathway Resource Center is spreading fast amongst the homeless community with one friend telling another how they can get help. Visitor Jessie Johnson said, “By the homeless people and social workers, seek and find stuff we need. By giving me direction and a place to go.”

Pathway is bridging the gap between homeless communities and available helpful free resources. Homeless Outreach Navigator Kimberly Jo Black said, “We have a lot of resources out there that are not being used.”

Visit Pathway Resource Center every Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the fellowship hall at Big Ridge Baptist Church.
