Ocean Springs mayor gives updates at Jackson County Chamber ‘Meet the Mayor’ event

Jackson County Chamber of Commerce hosted a ‘Meet the Mayor’ event with Ocean Springs Mayor Kenny Holloway this morning.

Mayor Holloway has been in office for about a year and this morning he shared updates on improvements and new facilities coming to the area.

Holloway touched on the 1515 Government Street project which will include a parking garage, boutique hotel, restaurants, and retail spaces.

The first Aldi grocery store on the Coast is almost finished and looking to hire 30 employees.

Construction is currently underway on a new First Bank on Government Street.

The city is also working on infrastructure including Ocean Springs Road, Government Street sidewalk, Porter Avenue intersection, and a multi-use walkway on East Beach. Mayor Holloway said, “We are going to continue to work on our quality of life. We are going to make some investments in beautification and parks. We are going to continue to lobby for additional funds, whether it be federal or state, we have some serious infrastructure issues and we are going to start repairing and doing some long-term fixes to our infrastructure.”

The mayor says he is pushing for more people to utilize the ‘Code Red’ emergency notification system so they can stay alert and aware of everything going on within the city.
