Ocean Springs High School class of 2021 graduates at the Coast Coliseum

Another Coast school celebrated its class of 2021 and newest alumni group this evening.

Ocean Springs seniors, wearing their blue caps and gowns and grey stolls, walked across the stage, marking the beginning of the next chapter for the new graduates.

After spending their final year of high school in the midst of a pandemic, students were able to invite family and friends to see them receive their diplomas.

Here’s what a few new OSHS alumni had to say about their time as Greyhounds.  Graduate Ashton Rubio said, “It’s really nice to move on, just to know that we were able to persevere through the school year. Make it through all the crazy changes and everything that’s going on and finally be able to see it in our rearview mirror.”

Graduate Maurakaye Hubbard said, “We’re finally starting to get back to some normalcy, like not having to wear the masks and being able to be all together because a lot of students were virtual this year, so we haven’t been with our whole class like at all this year. So, to have everybody here is just really special.”

Graduate Gianna Milanese said, “I have been so excited and waiting for this moment. I love Ocean Springs, but it is time to start the new chapter. Once a Greyhound, always a Greyhound.”

Rubio will be attending the Air Force Academy. Hubbard is heading to Starkville in the fall to attend Mississippi State and Milanese is going to Ole Miss and is planning on majoring in broadcast journalism.
