New police station being built in Bay St. Louis

Bay St. Louis Police Department is in the process of getting their own station built.

Supplies are steadily showing up at the property to keep production moving along. Walls are up and bricks are being cemented on the exterior of the building.

The new building will be located right behind city hall which currently houses officers.

The new building will provide a full-service police department that includes an area for residents to come in to file and pick up reports, a holding facility, and an evidence drug vault.

The new briefing room will be dedicated to Steven Robin and a training room will be dedicated to Brandon Estorffe, the fallen officers who were killed in the line of duty. Police Chief Toby Schwartz said, “oh it’s exciting, it’s like moving in a new home. So, it’s the same way with the police department, you have a sense of belonging for the officers, a real work place and a real home for them. So, people don’t realize this, but the police department has been moved around throughout the years and many different buildings. We’re excited, it’s been a long time coming.”

If everything goes according to plan, the building will be done at the end of summer.
