New life coming to Singing River Mall property in Gautier

Gautier Mayor Phil Torjusen says the city is moving closer to bringing new life, development, and jobs to the Singing River Mall property that’s been vacant for about seven years now.

Mayor Torjusen tells News 25 the final hurdle has been crossed as the state legislature recently approved $3.5 million in Restore Act money to help fund the project and they are on track to close on the property in about two to three months. “I’ve been getting a lot of responses by people asking what’s going to be there. What’s going to be there is a design that will be coming to the public. It’s going to be a complete mixed use. We’re going to be deciding as a Council all together what’s going to be going on on that property. It’s really one of the biggest defining moments in the history of Gautier. While I’ve been the Mayor, this has been our number one goal. We got the green light to move forward, and we will be moving forward with it.”

Mayor Torjusen says once the mixed-use development project is complete, new jobs and sales tax revenue to benefit the city will be generated.
