New boat launch now open in Biloxi
A new boat launch is now open and ready for use in Biloxi.
A dedication was held today for the West Biloxi Boat Launch at the Lee Koplin Sun-N-Sand Park. The launch lies at the foot of Camellia Street and Highway 90.
It is home to 40 parking spaces for cars and trailers and two boat launches. Tideland funds, city grants, and taxpayer money was used to fund the $3 million project.
Lee Koplin Sun-N-Sand Park is in Harrison County District 1 and Supervisor Beverly Martin is excited for more outdoor activities along the water. “One thing we learned during COVID, I got more requests for, we need more boat launches. Unbeknownst to the public, we’d already looked at this, the boardwalk always included a boat launch, but we did the board walk, two phases of it and now we got the boat launch.”
From the new boat launch, it is a straight shot to Ship Island and is within a few feet of the Mississippi Channel.
