New Biloxi Junior High opens doors

Students not only entered a new school year at Biloxi Junior High, but a brand new campus this morning.
The seventh and eighth graders walked the halls of the $37 million building. It features over 50 classrooms, science labs, a state of the art cafeteria with covered outdoor seating, and a fine arts wing.
Even though traffic before the first bell was a bit hectic because of the new system, administrators tell News 25 the fresh look and new equipment made the first day back the most exciting one for both teachers and students. Principal Scott Powell said, “A lot of stunned looking faces, big smiles when we welcomed them yesterday to the meet and greet. They looked like they were anxious to get in the building and see what it was all about, teachers looked like kids coming down the stairs at Christmas time. They were absolutely overjoyed to hit the building the first day.”
The gym at the junior high school is still under construction, but officials believe it will be complete in about 30 days.
