New art exhibits at Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art
The Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art presents two new exhibits tonight. Both artists are from New Orleans, Louisiana.
Paintings by Robert Warrens and Dapper Bruce Lafitte both feature historic events that occurred in South Louisiana. Lafitte creates bird’s eye views of physical and psychological effects of Hurricane Katrina on the City of New Orleans. Warrens uses dark humor and makes statements of the world around him that often reflect his own experiences and concerns, but are cloaked in bright colors to stress the power of imagination.
Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art Executive Director Kevin O’Brien said, “The good thing about people coming here, these are native artists, in terms of these are people that are from where we live. The stories they tell really relate to us.”
Both exhibits will be available for viewing until the last week of May and first week of June.
