Motion Opposing Mandate of Large Trucks

The U.S. Senate voted in favor of a motion opposing a federal mandate that would force states to allow large trucks to pull double 33 foot trailers.
The successful effort was spearheaded by Mississippi U.S. Senator Roger Wicker and U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein of California. The motion passed by a vote of 56 to 31.
Earlier this year, the Senate Appropriations Committee approved an amendment to the Transportation Funding Bill requiring states to allow trucks with two 33 foot trailers on their highways.
