Moss Point man charged in double homicide
A 43-year-old man is in jail after Moss Point Police charged him in connection with the double homicide that occurred Tuesday morning.
Police said Willie Hurd of Moss Point shot two men about 8:30 a.m. in the 6000 block of Elder street.
Officers arrived on scene after a call came in about a shooting. When they arrived, they found Hurd suffering from a gunshot wound to the foot. He was taken to Singing River Hospital for treatment.
Hurd told officers there were other shooting victims and officers found Tremaine Moore, 38, of Moss Point, dead in the yard from a gunshot wound and Marcus Davison, 42, of Pascagoula inside the residence, dead from a gunshot wound.
Moss Point detectives and agents from the South Mississippi Metro Enforcement Team, Pascagoula’s Crime Scene Unit and Jackson County District Attorney’s Office investigators worked together to gather evidence and interview witnesses.
When Hurd was released from the hospital, he was arrested and charged with two counts of first degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He also faces a charge of felony possession of marijuana that was found in his home.
Detectives determined that Hurd was the suspect and had shot Moore and Davison.
