Mississippi Attorney General Office reaches settlement with Roblox

Attorney General Lynn Fitch says Mississippi has reached a major settlement with the online gaming platform Roblox, aimed at strengthening safety for children and teens.

The agreement requires Roblox to block adults from interacting with minors, expand age verification and parental consent, eliminate late-night notifications, and limit young users to age-appropriate content.

Parents will also gain more control over their children can communicate with, how long they can play, which games they can access, and whether they can use in-game currency.

The settlement also requires stronger detection of grooming and predatory behavior and provides nine million dollars for digital literacy and parent education programs.

In a statement, Fitch says with this settlement, the magnolia state is raising the bar on holding big tech accountable, and is at the forefront in keeping Mississippi kids safe.
