Mike Guerrero named Biloxi Shuckers manager
Whereas most sports teams got at least some semblance of a 2020 season, the Biloxi Shuckers did not. That still hasn’t taken away the most consistent presence in their dugout.
Today, the Shuckers announced their coaching staff for the 2021 campaign, led by none other than fifth-year skipper Mike Guerrero who would have been in his sixth season with the club had it not been for COVID-19.
His last run in Biloxi culminated with a franchise best overall record of 82-57, good for the organization’s second straight Southern League South Division title.
During that two year stretch the Shuckers have been a model of consistency under Guerrero’s watch, actually winning four straight south division half titles.
Overall, this will be his 23rd season as a minor league manager.
Here’s a quick look at the full coaching staff, starting with Guerrero who’s joined by Chuckie Caufield in his fourth season with the Shuckers, but first as a hitting coach.
The rest of the staff is comprised of newcomers, those being pitching coach Nick Childs, athletic trainer Jeff Paxson, and strength and conditioning coach Jason Morriss.
