MGM Park to Host More Events

The end of the Shuckers inaugural season is right around the corner as they enter the playoffs but that doesn’t mean the party at MGM Park has to stop. News 25’s Kristen Durand shows us some upcoming events to look forward to at the stadium.
As the baseball season is sliding into its final inning here on the Coast, don’t expect stadium seats to be empty during the offseason. Owner of Overtime Sports Tim Bennett said, “We’re continuously working on a daily basis. We receive phone calls and emails weekly regarding different types of events that people want to bring here to the baseball stadium. We’re looking forward to hosting as many of them as we can.”
The stadium is already booked to play host to big concerts, Cruisin’ the Coast events and even bouts of hand-to-hand combat, promising to keep people on the edge of their seats year round. “The MMA fight is going to be successful. We’re looking forward to that. I’ve got a real big announcement at a later date that we’re going to make regarding November the 7th and November the 14th. Those two events, I think, are going to be pretty significant for the community as well,” said Bennett.
After two years of being held in Gulfport, the MLK Day Parade and Battle of the Bands will find its way back to Biloxi thanks to MGM Park. Felix Gines, Biloxi City Council Ward 2, said, “It’s going to be great with Dr. Dixon putting it on, the Coast wide celebration, bringing it back after a two year absence from the city of Biloxi.”
And next year, the Shuckers will be sharing their home with the Bulldogs. MGCCC will be playing their home games on American Star Field, as well as coast high school baseball games, every Thursday starting in March. Plus, some of our state colleges will play at MGM Park also. “So, the University of Southern Mississippi will be coming down and playing a couple of games. Mississippi State will be playing on April 20th against Louisiana-Monroe. In 2017, we’ll have all three of the big three in the state, USM, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss that will play here,” said Bennett.
