Harrison County Trunk-Or-Treat kicks off Halloween week
GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV) — Halloween is just days away, and the Gulf Coast is getting into the spooky spirit.
Family-friendly fun is happening all week long, bringing the community together for a spooktacular time. On Monday night, community members came out to the Harrison County Fairgrounds for Trunk-Or-Treat fun.
Tricks and treats out of trunks of cars in Harrison County. Kids of all ages came out to celebrate Halloween and fill their buckets with candy.
Those handing out treats say it’s all about sharing some joy with the kids and having a good time.
“We’re out here for the Halloween carnival and we’re having a good time. Everybody’s in costume this year, so we’re just out here having fun,” said Robbie Smith.
Every car that rolled into the event was decked out for Halloween. From a yellow Volkswagen van serving up retro vibes to spooky rides and cars inspired by iconic movies.
“For many years, my mom has been a really big fan of the Ghost Busters and she pulled me into it a while back, and now we participate in all sorts of Ghost Busters things in Louisiana and Mississippi,” said Savannah Covarrubias.
And of course, the costumes. Kids and adults dressed as fairies, pirates, movie characters, and so much more. Even a dog got dressed for the occasion in a pink dinosaur costume.
“I’m The Lorax, which is one of my favorite characters in movies and I thought it would be really funny, but the suit’s a little too tight so I had to put on a little extra stuff,” said Mia Page. “I think that a lot of people should be here, and there is a lot of people here.”
