MDOT prepares for snow, ice in North Mississippi

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in northern Mississippi as a cold front is bringing a preview of winter.

Snow has fallen in several places in the northernmost portions of the state, including in the cities of Batesville and Oxford.

The National Weather Service says up to 1 inch of snow could accumulate, but winter weather is not expected anywhere near the coast.

As the snow moves across the state, the Mississippi Department of Transportation says they’re doing everything they can to stay prepared.

Yesterday, crews spent the afternoon prepping trucks to spread salt in case roads get slick.
