Mayor Gilich returns from Cuba
Biloxi Mayor Andrew ‘FoFo’ Gilich returned from his four day trip to Cuba.
The goal of his trip was to bring the Cuban National Baseball Team to Biloxi for a series game at MGM Park. He says Biloxi would need to get a collegiate team together in order to play.
The mayor also used the opportunity in visits with Cuban leaders and U.S. representatives to discuss potential trade benefits in a Biloxi-Cuba relationship.
Mayor Gilich tells News 25 he wants to get the first secretary of the Cuban embassy to the United States to visit certain facilities. “And again, do a little bit of economic development pitch from Cuba to the U.S. Again, President Trump changed a few rules to do business that the Obama Administration sort of opened up, but again, it’s the rules, could be, the existing rules could make this thing happen.”
Gilich plans to go back in the spring and seal the deal on bringing the Cuban National Baseball Team to Biloxi.
