Mardi Gras Mambo at Lyman Community Center
Seniors from across the Coast gathered at the Lyman Community Center in Gulfport this morning for the third annual Mardi Gras Mambo.
The Boyington Health and Rehabilitation Center partnered with the City of Gulfport to provide live music, vendors, door prizes, and dishes prepared by local businesses.
The Dixie Dancers from Red Barnett Senior Center were even there to show off dance moves and teach attendees a few of those dance moves.
For some residents this was the first time making it out to a Mardi Gras event. Gulf Coast resident Peggy Lutman said, “I think it’s wonderful. It’s the only time you can dress up and act like a fool. I love the king cakes and I love the parades. The parades are just beautiful. You can’t beat them. This is wonderful. It’s a wonderful time, believe me.”
Over five hundred seniors attend the Mardi Gras Mambo at the Lyman Community Center.
