March of Dimes Military Baby Shower
Having a baby can be an emotional and stressful for moms and dads to be and it can be even harder for military families.
March of Dimes took note of that and held a baby shower for 25 expecting military moms in South Mississippi at the Biloxi Visitors Center on Saturday with the help of their sponsor, Philips.
There were information tables and sessions for everything from car seat safety to breast feeding.
At the end of the shower, every mom was surprised with a breast pump, baby monitor, diapers, and more to take home with them.
March of Dimes feels that it’s important to provide help for these expecting mothers who may not have anyone else here to do so. March of Dimes Development Manager of South Mississippi Bridget Turan said, “We just want to give these moms a shower that they might not otherwise receive because they’re away from families.”
Expecting mother Kierra Gill said, “Being a military wife, you feel like you don’t really have anybody because your family is gone. So to have people showing that you’re important, it makes you feel good. Pregnancy is very hard so today made me feel special.”
March of Dimes has this outreach program for expecting military mothers in 16 different states.
