Man shot by Biloxi police identified

Sixty-one year-old Vincent Dronet has been identified as the man who was shot and killed by Biloxi police on Wednesday during a chase. Officers responded to a shoplifting call at the Home Depot on Cedar Lake Road shortly before 8 a.m. After receiving a suspect and vehicle description, officers spotted the vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop. Dronet continued to drive away and traveled down a dirt road, sparking a high speed chase.
Officers then tried to tase the suspect, but he continued to flee the scene near Camp Wilkes Road.
Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove says he died from a gunshot wound to the head.
