Man sentenced for credit card skimming device
An illegal alien from Brazil is sentenced to 39 months in federal prison for fraud in connection with a credit card skimming device found on a Gulfport ATM.
Back in December 2017, officers stopped 31-year-old Claudio Ferreira and two co-defendants in a vehicle matching a description for one used by suspects installing skimming devices.
An investigation revealed the ATM with the skimmer on it was altered with the privacy shield cut off so a camera placed above could see the key pad customers used to enter their pin.
Ferreira was also ordered to pay more than $46,000 in restitution to a victim.
