Man injured by alleged pipe bomb in Stone County

One man is in the hospital suffering injuries to his face and legs allegedly from a bomb explosion early this morning.
According to the Stone County Sheriff’s Department, a 911 call was placed shortly after midnight in regards to a pipe bomb that had exploded.
Deputies and EMS responded to the scene at Sunshine Hill Drive in Perkinston where resident Edward Caudill was suffering from cuts and wounds from the alleged explosion and was then airlifted to a hospital.
Captain Ray Boggs said they found destructive devices and post blast components at the scene, but is still unclear if it was a pipe bomb. The Stone County Sheriff’s Department and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms are still investigating the incident.
Caudill is being treated for his wounds at the University of South Alabama Medical Center and is in stable condition.
