Man charged with murder after dropping woman off at hospital

A man who dropped off a woman at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport and later died  has been charged with murder in her death.

Long Beach Police Chief Billy Seal said Robert Oshinski, 37, was arrested January 9. He was booked in the Harrison County jail under a $1 million bond, but is on a hold for Hancock County, where he faces an aggravated assault charge.

The woman, identified as Ashley Barbara, 33, was in a relationship with Oshinski. The couple had three children, ages 5, 6 and 11, and the family lived in an RV that was in Long Beach when Barbara was dropped off at the hospital.

Seal said Long Beach responded to a call from Memorial about a woman who was dropped off with substantial injuries. Gulfport Police assisted, Seal said.

“She was breathing, but she barely had a pulse,” Seal said of Barbara’s condition when she was brought to the hospital. “She died later that day.”

An autopsy ruled the cause of death as blunt force trauma.

Seal said an investigation into Barbara’s death determined that Oshinksi was involved.

The children are now in the custody of Child Protective Services.

Seal said more charges could be filed against Oshinski.
