Lynn Meadows Discovery Center holds ‘Flapjacks and Flannels’ cooking class

Flapjacks, eggs, orange juice, oh my! Lynn Meadows Discovery Center hosted a Flapjacks and Flannels event where kids learned how to make breakfast!

It was the Friday night of every child’s dream: flannels and flapjacks!

Families gathered in the Viking Kitchen at Lynn Meadows Discovery Center to learn all the ins and outs of cooking the most important meal of the day: breakfast!

Education Director Sandra Norris says her favorite part of the event is seeing the families enjoy time with one another. “To see the kid’s smiles on their faces and to see the enjoyment they get to cook with their families. I know a lot of parents don’t have time for that, but you know to come out to Lynn Meadows experience the mixing and measuring and making a mess in our kitchen. That’s what it’s all about.”

With the help of Sandra, kids learned how to shake and make their own butter, squeeze and drink their own orange juice, and the grand finale: pancakes!

In order to get in the breakfast spirit, participants were highly encouraged to wear their pajamas and even a flannel.

While in their comfy clothes, families enjoyed spending time with one another while getting hands on learning experience in the kitchen.

A few of the participants told News 25 what their favorite part of the meal was and how to make orange juice.
