Louis Elias announces run for Harrison County Sheriff

Louis Elias announced his run for Harrison County sheriff Wednesday at Centennial Plaza where members of the community gathered to support the candidate.

For more than 25 years, Major Elias had worked in law enforcement, serving as a patrol officer, K9 handler investigator, and training academy coordinator.

Major Elias tells News 25 he’s wanted to work in law enforcement since kindergarten and is living a dream come true. “The decision was made years ago. It was definitely a calling for me. It’s been an aspiration for years. We definitely want to prioritize spending to address the needs of community, very passionate about school security and threat mitigation. It’s at the forefront of our minds right now, each of us. I think there is a very reasonable way to obtain those goals.”
