Lottery Legislation Filed At Session
One State legislator is looking to hit the jackpot by bringing the lottery to Mississippi.
Democratic Representative Alyce Clark of Jackson filed two lottery bills.
One of those bills would create the Mississippi Lottery for Education and have it administered by the Mississippi Gaming Commission.
The other would call for a statewide special election for the lottery.
Each year, multiple bills make it to floor, but few make it very far.
This year, Governor Phil Bryant and Lieutenant Governor Tate Reeves have said they would at least consider lottery proposals.
Mississippi is one of only five states with no lottery.
