A look at the horizon for Biloxi in 2020
With 2019 almost under wraps, there is a lot on the horizon for the year 2020, especially in the City of Biloxi.
Biloxi Mayor Andrew ‘FoFo’ Gilich stopped by the station this morning for our ‘Mayoral Monday’ segment to give us an update on just what he expects for the new decade.
He mentioned infrastructure work, the proposed east convention center, and several other projects being brought into the New Year.
One thing on tap in the city right now is their involvement in the federal lawsuit against the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Mississippi River Commission regarding the Bonnet Carre Spillway’s prolonged opening.
For Mayor Gilich, it’s all about having a seat at the table. “You know, we don’t know if that’s a voting seat or not, but they have to understand that we were harmed and without a plan we can’t just sit back and say this is how we will address this, both from the state and the federal agencies that run it. Sometimes it takes at least filing a lawsuit to get attention and that’s what we did.”
Mayor Gilich says he is confident 2020 will be year of growth for the City of Biloxi.
