Local veterans presented with Quilt of Valor

The Lumberton Senior Center honors local veterans with homemade quilts.

Two veterans received quilts during the center’s third Quilts of Valor presentation this year.

The center started the presentations in January, honoring one veteran.

Now organizers hope to recognize more veterans as applications come in.

Volunteer Coordinator Connie Hebert says it is important to show appreciation for those who have served. “They put all their heart and soul into what they’ve done. We need to help them. We need to represent them and honor them.”

The presentations take place during the center’s monthly coffee gathering for military members and first responders.

Families interested in nominating a veteran for a quilt can contact the center for more information.
