Long Beach residents receive first dose of COVID-19 vaccine

Today in Long Beach at the West Harrison Civic Center first dose COVID-19 vaccines were given to patients 65 and older and anyone 18 years or older with underlying health conditions.

Memorial prepared to give 600 first dose COVID vaccines. Patients had to schedule an appointment prior to arrival.

Memorial understands the difficulty of getting an appointment through the call lines, but encourages anyone who qualifies to keep calling. Nurse Lynn Bourdin said, “As we get doses of vaccine in, we get those in fairly quickly as well and so if they need to schedule an appointment, they can call our COVID hotline and that number is 228-867-5000. Keep trying, keep trying. We have lots of people working those lines and it is intense trying to get through, but we’ll handle as quickly as we can.”

There is a nurse practitioner on site and also emergency equipment.
