Lawyer wants U.S. Supreme Court to hear SRHS pension case
A Jackson County attorney is taking the Singing River Health System’s failed pension plan to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Today, Attorney Harvey Barton, who represents over 200 health system retirees in the case, made the announcement. Barton says the Fifth Circuit’s previous ruling allows Jackson County to escape liability. Barton says he has 60 days to perfect his appeal after the Fifth Circuit of Appeals denied a petition for a rehearing on September 7th.
A small amount of cases are taken up by the U.S. Supreme Court each year. This battle continues as thousands of former Singing River Health System employees say they are not receiving their pension.
