Kroc Center reopening with summer camps, pool

The Salvation Army Kroc Center is opening registration for summer camps that will begin June 1, but space is limited.

The Director of Operations Danielle Emery met with Mayor Andrew “FoFo” Gilich of Biloxi and shared plans of a holding camps.

Registration is available online for Summer Day Camp visit https://krocmscoast.org/camps/. Scholarships are available to qualifying applicants.

Camp hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Camp fees will be $100 a week with a one-time $100 registration fee.  As parents prepare to bring their child to camp, there will be safety procedures to follow due to COVID-19, such as:

  • Staff will meet parents/guardians out front for curb drop-off and pick-up
  • Each child must arrive at camp every day with a completed “Health Questionnaire”
  • Campers temperature will be taken “touchless” upon arrival.  Temp must be 100.3 or below
  • Campers will wash their hands for 20 seconds upon arrival and before they go to their room
  • Campers will be separated into groups of 10 campers to one leader.

“We know that our children have been affected by Covid-19 and we are going to do our best to give them hope, some normalcy, and as much FUN this summer, as we can,” Emery said.

Also beginning June 1, the Kroc Center will expand its hours of operations: Monday through Friday 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The pool, Biloxi’s hidden gem, will be open to a limited number of participants and by reservation to members only. Call 228-207-1218 to reserve a two hour pool session. At this time only 25 participants will be allowed in the pool during a two hour swim session.
