Krewe of Gemini Parade

The Krewe of Gemini sent Mardi Gras 2016 out in grand fashion.
Hundreds of revelers lined the streets of downtown Gulfport to celebrate their 47th carnival season. The parade started at 5:30 on 19th Street and ended near Gulfport City Hall with a toast from Mayor Billy Hewes. Queen Leda and King Jupiter led the show, followed by their royal court. Joseph ‘Joe’ W. Powell, the king himself, tells News 25 he was thrilled to be chosen as this year’s royal leader. “Oh, this is a great thing to be, to show the city how much we care for them and how much they care for us and being the king and the person that brings forth the joy and everything else. “
News 25’s Shelby Myers had the chance to ride in tonight’s parade and throw out handfuls of beads and goodies. Kids in attendance hollered the most for stuffed animals. They were definitely a fan favorite.
