Justice Court employee charged in Hancock Co. embezzlement case

A former Hancock County Justice Court employee is facing criminal charges after special agents with the state auditor’s office say she embezzled thousands of dollars.
Dana Sue Beaman was arrested Friday on the charges of embezzlement and making false entries in or altering public records. Beaman was also demanded to pay nearly $200,000 for the embezzled amount, interest, and recovery costs.
The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office referred the case to the state after Beaman admitted to embezzling $4,000 from the Justice Court. Further investigation assessed that Beaman embezzled close to $111,000.
Beaman was employed by the Hancock County Justice Court from January 2008 until June 2011.
