Jeff Hair announces candidacy for Hancock County coroner

Jeff Hair, who ran against Jim Faulk for Hancock County coroner last year, is again throwing his hat in the ring for the position.

Hair narrowly lost in a Republican party runoff to Faulk, who announced Monday that he resigned as coroner for health reasons, in the regularly scheduled elections.

“It is my pleasure to announce my intent to re-qualify as a candidate for Coroner of Hancock County,” Hair said on his Facebook page. “I look forward to reestablishing contact with many of those who supported me in my endeavor in 2019 and I hope I can gain the support of many others.

“I believe that the special election in November 2021 represents an opportunity to bring Dignity in Service to the Hancock County Coroner’s Office.”

The Hancock County Board of Supervisors have set a special election for Nov. 2 to fill the unexpired term.

The qualifying deadline for the special election is 5 p.m. Sept. 3. Information is available at the Hancock County Circuit Clerk’s office in Bay St. Louis.
