Jeepin’ the Coast

Classic cars have been cruising the streets all week, this morning hundreds of Jeeps across the Coast fired up their engines.
Jeepin’ the Coast Topless is an annual event to benefit breast cancer. The ride starts in Bay St. Louis and is from bridge to bridge. Jeeps will hang a U-turn at the Ocean Springs Bridge then circle back to the Bay St. Louis Bridge. Money is donated by buying shirts or simply giving what you can.
Jeepin’ the Coast organizer Jennifer Moran and a group of friends came up with the idea eight years ago and the shirt idea five years ago. She tells News 25 they’ve already raised $5,000 this year for a cause that hits close to home. “I have a cousin that’s battling breast cancer for the third time. So yea, it hits home. To look around and see this many jeeps on a Friday, you know people that take off of work that travel far from Baton Rouge and Tuscaloosa who are here. I mean, my phone has blown up this week either wanting t-shirts or people asking what the route is.”
Moran says in the beginning there were only 12 Jeeps but there were over 300 Jeeps for the ride today.
