Jay Trapani & Mike Smith Face Off for Waveland Mayor

Tuesday, the Republican and Democratic candidates will face off in the Waveland mayoral race. Mike Smith won the Democratic runoff election less than two weeks ago and will now face Republican candidate, Jay Trapani.

Voters of Waveland have already come out to vote several times with the primary and runoff elections, but the candidates are asking voters to come out one last time. The Waveland fire station will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for voting. The candidates want to remind voters how they hope to make Waveland a better place.

Smith says, “Customer service issues are the first and foremost, and that’s gonna’ be some of the immediate changes people see, and then you know, taking a deeper look at the budget. Also want to employ more public works personnel, ‘cause I know that’s one of the major issues in the city, we’re lacking.”

Trapani says, “Main goals and focuses is to turn this place around. We’re kinda’ been in a slub. The current administration’s got some money in the bank, but we have no building going on, no residents coming in. We need to bring some businesses back to Coleman Avenue and we need to staff up both the police and fire departments.”

The Waveland fire station will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 2nd for voting.
