Jackson County District 1 Runoff

In Jackson County races, the runoff between Barry Cumbest and Sabrina Smith for District 1 supervisor will also be decided today.
That seat, which has been held for the last four years by incumbent Barry Cumbest, was one of five that were up for grabs this year.
Cumbest has been working hard on the campaign trail to keep his seat against Sabrina Smith, who says it’s time for a change.
Sabrina Smith said, “An overwhelming amount of support. Jackson County is ready to see a change. Their voices are being heard. They were heard in the primary with 59 percent of the votes were against the incumbent.”
“We’ve been real busy the last couple of weeks,” said Cumbest, “and we’ve been very busy this morning and we’ll be busy all day long but so far everything has been looking real good. The voter turnout has been better than I expected from what I’ve seen this morning.”
With no Democratic candidates in the District 1 supervisor race, tonight’s vote will be the final determination of who gets that seat.
