Jackson County Animal Shelter Adoption Day

The Jackson County Animal Shelter is always seeking to adopt out the many dogs and cats they have at their shelter. On Saturday, they held an adoption event at the American Legion in Gautier.

The shelter held the event at the American Legion because of the efforts they have been putting in recently to raise money and donations for the shelter. Multiple members of the legion decided to take their efforts a step further and get their hair dyed bright colors if they were able to raise certain amounts of money.

Gautier American Legion Member Gordon Gollott said, “They pick up so many dogs and we’re trying to get them adopted out and rather than them euthanizing the dogs, this is an incentive to bring people out to possibly adopt a dog from the shelter and save their lives. I think it’s a great thing to do. It’s fantastic.”

If you missed the Adoption Day it’s not too late to go get a four-legged companion. The Jackson County Animal Shelter is open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
