Investigation Continues in Burning Death of MS Teenager

The investigation into the burning death of a 19 year old Panola County girl is ongoing and no arrests have been made.

Jessica Chambers died at a Memphis hospital Saturday night, shortly after being found burning next to her car, which was also on fire. Early autopsy results reveal that she died from severe burns that covered 98% of her body. Authorities have talked to people who did see Jessica after she was spotted on gas station surveillance video.

First responder and Fire Chief, Cole Haley, says Jessica whispered something to him moments before she died. Officials say they are not ready to comment on what she said, but authorities believe the crime was personal.

District Attorney John Champion says, "We’re asking the community to help us with this. This is a horrendous crime. This is a 19 year old girl who was just beginning life and just graduated from high school and just beginning her life and nobody deserves to die this way."

Officials are asking for help from the public. There is a $1,000 reward for any information. Call Crime Stoppers at 800-729-2169.
