Improving Water Quality in the Gulf

Seeing orange flags line South Mississippi beaches warning swimmers to avoid going in the water is something that’s become almost expected along the coast. But state lawmakers want to help reduce the number of water contact advisories that are issued.
Coast legislators tell News 25 they’ll discuss using a portion of the BP Settlement money to collaborate with the department of environmental quality on how to make our waterways cleaner.
The goal is to have a sustainable program in place to improve water quality in South Mississippi.
